Jessica Pederson, New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill’s director of Education and Audience Engagement, is pleased to announce a robust lineup of spring activities at the Boylston-based nonprofit.
Pederson, who was hired by New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill in 2017, works with staff, members, and volunteers to create a diverse range of programming, including exhibitions, interpretation, adult and children’s programs, and special events.
“Everything we do at New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill is about connecting people to plants,” said Pederson, who previously worked as director of Public Programs at the New England Wild Flower Society in Framingham. “We want to engage visitors of all ages and enrich their lives by helping them make connections with plants and the natural world.”
New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill has dramatically increased the number of programs offered to the public in recent years, which has helped contribute to a surge in annual visitation and new memberships. In the coming months, guests will have the opportunity to experience Spring into Wellness, April School Vacation activities, Arbor Day festivities, Garden Wisdom Wednesdays, and Hello Spring, a special two month celebration of spring blooms from daffodils to tulips.
In addition to her time at the New England Wild Flower Society, Pederson draws on her experience as a manager and director of operations for Boston’s Esplanade Association, an interpretive specialist for public education at New York Botanical Garden, and a gardener at the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University.
“Plants are the pillar of all life on Earth and essential to our well-being too. They bring so much joy to people’s lives,” said Pederson. “At New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill we want to teach people about how their everyday lives depend on plants and help deepen their connection to nature whether that’s through exercise, enjoyment, art, education, or food.”
