CULTURE LEAP

As part of the Worcester Public Schools Culture LEAP initiative, and with support from the Worcester Educational Development Foundation, the Garden hosts a field trip for every second-grade class within the Worcester Public School district. Each year, roughly 1,700 second graders from 34 schools visit the Garden for fun and engaging educational experiences.

Our lessons, aligned with Massachusetts curriculum frameworks, create opportunities for real-life investigations of classroom concepts. During the Ecosystem Explorations field trip, the Garden’s Teacher Naturalists guide students in hands-on field observations that deepen their understanding of the relationships between animals, plants, and non-living elements in four different habitats.

Students leave our field trips with guest passes that allow them to return to the Garden with family members, friends, or guardians. We hope they also take with them a sense of wonder of the natural world and the environments we all share.
