New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill is pleased to announce it has received a Cultural Facilities Fund Grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council. The $92,000 grant will be used for hardscape improvements and pergola repairs at New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill.
“These repairs will allow us to have better ADA accessibility to our garden spaces and will help us welcome a more diverse group of visitors to New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill to learn about plants,” said New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill CEO Grace Elton. “Our mission is to connect people and plants and I can’t thank the MCC and Governor Charlie Baker enough for continuing to support our efforts.”
Repairs to pathways in the Entry Court, outside the Visitors Center, and near the Orangerie, which have experienced the annual wear and tear of New England weather, will increase accessibility in those areas, as a focus on inclusivity is part of the organization’s Strategic Plan and everyday efforts to create a garden for all. The funds will also help the garden restore its iconic pergolas that flank the entry into the Secret Garden, which is the site of over 55 weddings annually.
New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill has received grants from the Massachusetts Cultural Council in 2007, 2011, and 2017.
