New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill continues to climb the Boston Business Journal’s annual Book of Lists under the Largest Museums category.
The recently unveiled 2020 list has New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill landing at number 19 among Massachusetts museums, up from Number 21 last year and Number 24 in 2018.
New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill has seen a dramatic increase in visitation over recent years, growing from 80,073 in 2012 to our busiest year yet with 167,606 visitors in 2019.
The 2020 edition of the BBJ’s Book of Lists includes an updated collection of the largest 25 museums in the Bay State. New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill ranked just ahead of the MIT Museum and the Harvard Art Museums, both in Cambridge. At the top of the list is the Boston Museum of Science which had 1.4 million visitors in 2019.
In addition to New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill, the two other Worcester County museums on the list are the Ecotarium, ranking 18th, and Old Sturbridge Village, landing at 12th.
Over at the Worcester Business Journal, their fall Book of Lists has New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill ranked 8th in their Top Tourist Attractions based on 2019 admissions numbers.

Among virtual measurements, New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill ranks fourth among New England museums with 73,726 Facebook followers, trailing the Boston Museum of Science, the New England Aquarium, and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, all in Boston.
