The changing of the seasons comes with a mix of feelings. As New Englanders, we’re sad to see summer go, though excited for the parts of fall we enjoy so much. That mix of emotions happens at New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill, too. As we say goodbye to warmer temperatures, we welcome the return of our subtropical collection of plants to their winter homes.

New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill’s conservatories, the Orangerie and Limonaia, are an invaluable oasis of lush greens and bright blooms even in the bleakest periods of winter here in the Northeast. And this year, our conservatory horticulturist, Matt Tetreault, and conservatory gardener, Kahli Connolly, have designed a one-way layout to ensure guests are safe while exploring. We’re committed to providing the mental and physical benefits of being close to plants, in the months to come. Now more than ever, we need Nature in our lives.

One of the enjoyable aspects of our conservatories is that even if you’re a regular visitor, no two indoor displays are ever the same. Each year the layout changes and we’re often adding new plants to the collection. In the Orangerie we’ve been adding some plants that will stay put year round.

This week the Orangerie is open while our Horticulture team repopulates the Limonaia with its plants. We encourage you to visit often this fall and winter to enjoy the company of our indoor plant collection.
