Materials:

  • Twigs
  • Acorns
  • Leaves
  • Other natural materials
  • Hot glue
  • Scissors
  • (optional) Hand-held pruners

As the fall starts to change to winter, natural materials are at a surplus as many plants have now dropped their leaves, seeds, and flowers. There is no better use for those items than to create Acorn Pals. This craft is inspired by David M Bird and his creation of Becorns. These cute creatures have very big lives and many animal friends, and they are always looking for more little acorn people to join their community. Feel free to check out his Youtube channel and Instagram for more tutorials and inspiration when creating your Acorn Pals.Supplies include hot glue gun, scissors. sticks of branches, and acorns.

Collect your natural materials.  Acorns and twigs are necessary for creating the body, but all other materials can be used to accessorize your acorn pal. When collecting, try to find materials that are already on the ground so that we do not harm our plants.  Assembling the acorn pal parts

Plug in your hot glue gun before getting started. Lay out your materials. Mix and match different acorns, sticks, etc. to create your pal. Cut any twigs that are too long.

Hot gluing acorn to twigHot glue the head, arms, and legs together. Make sure you use small dots of glue and press the item gently so that you do not burn your fingers.

Completed acorn palsOnce your pal has come to life, it is time to accessorize. Use leaves, acorn caps, seeds, dried flowers, etc. to create hats, clothes, jewelry, and anything else your acorn pal might love.

Acorn palsWhen you complete your acorn pal, take it outside to show it the world. Challenge yourself to set up your pal in fun ways and photograph it.
