GNOMEVEMBER
November 1–30

Gnomevember has ended. Thank you to everyone who visited the gnomes this year!

Standing over 2-feet-tall and weighing in at 60-pounds, these concrete gnomes were cast from molds here at the Garden. Artists from around New England submitted proposals to creatively transform them into works of art with their own unique backstories. Decorated using a wide variety of artistic media, these gnomes celebrate nature, culture, identity, whimsy, and more.

Can you find all the gnomes?
Gnomes are hidden along accessible pathways throughout the Garden, some more mischievously than others! Find all 40 gnomes — plus the elusive Golden Gnome. Post her picture on Instagram with the hashtag #gnomevember and you’ll be entered to win a special prize.

We recommend purchasing your tickets online in advance. You can also buy tickets in person at the Garden. After viewing these wonderful works of art, stop by the Garden Shop for more whimsical Gnomes. Browse our online store featured items for a sneak peek!

Gnomevember is included with general admission.

To bring Gnomevember to life, we enlist the help of local artists who transform the gnomes into works of art, each telling a unique story. Each spring, artists submit their gnome design proposals. This year, 10 artists were chosen to participate in the exhibition.

Gnomes are prepared for the artists at the Garden by pouring mixed concrete into one of two silicon and fiberglass gnome molds. Once the concrete is set, the artists come to the Garden to meet their unpainted gnome for the first time. Over a few months of quality time together, the artists bring their gnomes to life with paint and love. When the time comes, the artists return their gnomes to the Garden and say so long (for now). The gnomes enjoy their time to shine throughout the month of November. At the end of the month, the gnomes find their favorite place to hide out until the next Gnomevember.

We would like to recognize and thank all the artists whose gnome designs are featured in this year’s Gnomevember.
