BOYLSTON, Mass. — New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill recently hired André Gorgenyi to serve as chief development officer. Gorgenyi has been raising philanthropic dollars for more than 16 years, most recently as director of facilitating impact with the Salvation Army. In his new role, Gorgenyi will oversee the advancement department for the Boylston-based nonprofit organization.
Gorgenyi began with a career in criminal justice serving as an undercover operative. His career in the nonprofit world began with The Salvation Army where he was trained in gift planning and then touched upon the higher education and medical sectors, before a return to The Salvation Army at its Canton office.
“I’m thrilled to join the New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill family and to help align the financial goals of donor investors with their philanthropic dreams,” Gorgenyi said.
The advancement department at New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill includes planned giving, fundraising events, membership, grant proposals, capital campaigns, and more. New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill opened in 1986 and includes 171 acres of woodlands, formal gardens, and a visitors center. The organization is dedicated to connecting plants and people.
“We’re so excited to have André on board,” said Grace Elton, CEO of New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill. “With his experience, work ethic, and enthusiasm, he’s going to have a major impact in the New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill community.”
Gorgenyi, and his wife Melissa of 14 years, are raising three school-aged children, Lewis, Jocelyn, and Jacob about 25 minutes north of Boston.
