GROWING GREEN

Growing Green, a collaboration between the Garden and Worcester Public Schools, is an in-school program designed for fifth and sixth graders to participate in over two consecutive years. Comprised of six sessions in total (one hour per session), Growing Green provides students with the tools, knowledge, and experience to be environmental stewards in their communities.

Growing Green began as a pilot program in March of 2022 with 45 fifth graders at Worcester’s Goddard School of Science & Technology. Students learned about the urban water cycle, sustainability, the benefits of trees, and tree equity through lessons aligned with Next Generation Science and Massachusetts State Science and Technology/Engineering standards.
