Our favorite cold-weather magical creatures have returned! Join us for Yeti, Set, Go! and embark on a whimsical winter adventure. Hidden among icy gardens, towering trees, and frosty landscapes, colorful yetis await your discovery. Find all of the yetis and uncover the magic and beauty of the winter season. Plus, learn about the wildlife that calls the Garden home through educational programs designed for kids and families.

This winter visitors will meet a cast of unique yetis that have taken up residence throughout our gardens. Guests are invited to embark on a yeti adventure and soak in the wintry views of our gardens and grounds.

After you’ve met all the yetis, venture inside and warm up in our colorful, sub-tropical conservatories where you’ll find our winter exhibition, Pixels + Petals, An Orchid Exhibition, from February 8 – March 16. Explore unique gifts from our Garden Shop or enjoy hot lunch from the Farmer and the Fork Café.

- Yetis are generally masters of camouflage with white fur that allows them to blend perfectly in their snow-covered northern habitats.
- Yetis are typically solitary creatures, dwelling alone in hidden ice caves.
- Contrary to popular belief, yetis are friendly and gentle creatures. Nothing makes a yeti sadder than being greeted with a scream.
- Yetis are herbivores and feast on berries and root vegetables. Their favorite cold-weather snack is the bright red berries of the winterberry.
- Yetis are adapted to cold weather and are reverse hibernators, spending the warmer months holed up deep in their cool, dark caves.
- The New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill yetis have turned over a new leaf and are ready to move on from their solitary ways. Forming a colorful group, these fifteen yetis have traveled down from the peaks of Wachusett Mountain to make new friends.
Is the yeti scavenger hunt included in admission?
Yes, general admission includes access to the grounds, visitors center, yeti scavenger hunt, and more from 10am to 5pm Monday through Sunday, January 11 through February 23. Reserve your admission tickets here.
Are the yetis friendly?
Yes, the New England Botanic Garden yetis are great for all ages. Technically, they are colorful, shaggy silhouettes. A chance for some silly fun in a safe outdoor setting this winter season.
Can we find food and drink onsite?
Yes, Farmer and the Fork cafe will be open in January, Thursday through Sunday from 11AM to 2:30PM. Come February, the cafe will again be open every day from 11AM to 3PM.
What if the weather is wintry?
The yetis are winterproof and love visitors on blustery days. They will be placed in spots that are accessible to visitors, where paths can be cleared if there are any snow events. So, bundle up and head into the great outdoors!
Will the Garden Shop be open?
Yes, the garden shop will be open.
