PHOTOGRAPHY POLICY

Pictures are a wonderful way to capture the natural beauty of the gardens and remember your visit. All visitors are welcome to take photographs for their own enjoyment. However, a permit is necessary for those who wish to use New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill as the backdrop for their portrait and commercial photography as well as anyone looking to use the Garden as a setting for a photography class, art class, or club visit.

GENERAL PHOTOGRAPHY POLICIES FOR ALL

  • Do not rearrange plants, plant labels, containers, benches and other structures that are part of the garden.  
  • Remain on the paths and mown grassy areas at all times. Do not stand in planting beds or on benches. Do not climb any trees, on any walls, or into any water features. Mounting equipment in trees or on buildings is not permitted. 
  • Balloons, kites, and flying lanterns are prohibited. Please provide details for any props you would like to use in your appointment request.  
  • Photographers should expect to work around visitors in all areas.  
  • All visitors must follow the Visitor Guidelines. 
  • Use of drones or remote-controlled aerial vehicles launched, operated, or retrieved on New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill’s property is not permitted. 

PERSONAL PHOTOGRAPHS
We encourage Garden visitors and amateur photographers to take photos for their personal use and enjoyment. If you share your photos online, please use #NewEnglandBG or use a location tag to share your photos with our online community. You are welcome to share images you are particularly proud of with the Public Relations Department for consideration to be shared by New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill with credit on our social media platforms. 

PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY
Portrait photography session pricing begins at $125 for Monday-Thursday and $175 for Friday-Sunday. We are pleased to offer a 10% discount to Garden members.  

Portrait photography is defined as professional and amateur photography for engagement, graduation, quinceañera, family, maternity, portfolio, prom, wedding and any other posed photo session. These posed photo sessions require an appointment made in advance.  

Please view our information packet for specific pricing and additional information. All appointments must be approved, scheduled, and paid for at least two weeks in advance. To make an appointment, please submit a request for Portrait Photography.  

Portrait Photography Season Pass:  Photographers may wish to take advantage of New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill’s Portrait Photography Season Pass program which provides considerable savings on portrait photography shoots and includes additional amenities offered only to Photographer’s Season Pass holders. COMMERCIAL PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEOGRAPHY
Commercial photography includes fashion shoots, styled shoots, advertising, films, and promotion. For more information on commercial photography rates, please view our information packet and submit a request for Commercial Photography/Videography. 

JOURNALIST PHOTOGRAPHY
New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill welcomes the opportunity to have the word spread about the gardens throughout many media platforms. Photojournalists, bloggers, television crews, and freelancers must coordinate their visit with the Marketing and Communications Department. Visit the Press Room for more information. 

PHOTOGRAPHY OF VISITORS
Visitors may be videotaped and/or photographed by an employee or contract photographer working for New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill. Admission serves as permission for the use of images of visitors by New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill and its constituents. New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill is a public place and as such photos of our guests are permitted as they would be in any public space, such as a park, trail, or roadway. However, visitors may ask – either the photographer or a New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill staff member – not to be photographed. Please contact us if you would like your picture removed from one of our online platforms.
